About Us

Statement of Purpose

Our goal is to provide superior customer service and high quality Toyota cars and trucks at the most competitive prices. We provide a "NO HASSLE" atmosphere where our customers can make intelligent buying decisions without pressure. We believe that a completely satisfied customer is our only reason to be in business, and our best advertising is "word of mouth."

History

The Cox family has a long and successful history in the automobile business in Alamance County. Zebulon Craig Cox Sr., Don's father, along with his brother, Whit, started selling surplus military trucks, in the late 1940's, in a field by the side of the road at the Cox family home.  Not long after, they started Cox Brother's Auto Sales.  In 1958 they got into the import business and became North Carolina's first Volvo dealership.  In 1959 they added the British Hillman Minx and the French Simca followed in 1960.  The Cox family established a reputation that drew the attention of the Toyota representatives and in 1968 they began selling the hard-to-pronounce little car in Burlington.

After graduating from the University of North Carolina in 1956, Don Cox worked in Real Estate and for the State of North Carolina before joining the family business in 1971.

Under Don Cox's direction, Cox Toyota has grown from 18 employees to over 50; many of them have been with the dealership from the beginning.  In February of 2005, Cox Toyota added the exciting new Scion franchise.

Cox Toyota is an 11 time recipient of Toyota's prestigious President's Award and is a multiple winner of the Service and Parts Excellence Award and was recently recognized for its Customer Relations Excellence.  The dealership also ranks in the Top 75 Toyota dealers nationally in Customer Satisfaction.

Don Cox has been recognized by Southeast Toyota and People Magazine over the years for his involvement in and many contributions to the community and has also received the Distinguished Service Award from Loaves & Fishes Christian Ministries for his support.

In 2003, to celebrate the company's 35 years as a Toyota dealer, Don Cox's employees and family presented him with a 1969 Corona, which is on display in the showroom.
